Paris Ackrill is a Birmingham-born artist who graduated in Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh in 2013. Since then she has completed an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, progressing her practice to span the realms of photography, video and immersive installation. Ackrill’s work inquires into boundaries of knowing, consciousness, self-knowledge, spirituality and earth connection, highlighting mankind’s connection with the natural world – much of her work features abstracted, interconnected images of humans and nature.
Her work is in many private collections, and in 2012 she received an award from National Geographic Traveller. She has exhibited extensively in London and abroad, including the The Marrakesh Biennale 5 in Morocco and the 2016 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
"Paris Ackrill's work celebrates our natural landscape to stunning effect; she captures celestial and otherworldly qualities in natural forms. Revelling in organic pattern and textural finish, the large format, hand-printed photographs are objects of wonder themselves. Tremendously positive and beautiful affirmations of man's relationship with nature, this 'painterly' photographer has a delicate and precious way of seeing."
