Katherine Lubar
Katherine Lubar is an American-born painter currently based in England. Her arts training began at Meadows School of the Arts, in Texas, with a BA in Music Theory and a Minor in Fine Art (1993). She subsequently moved to London, where she gained a postgraduate diploma in Painting from the City and Guilds of London Art School (1999).
Lubar’s work reflects her interest in the patterns – the sense of harmony and counterpoint – that underlie both music and art. Her paintings are geometric explorations of the interplay of colour between both shadow and light. Lubar’s work has been featured at the Royal Academy, the Mall Galleries and the Venice Biennale, and she has also been the subject of a solo exhibition at St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
